Scavenger Hunt Sunday

{ The tutorial for the oil and water shot from last week can be found here }

Sometimes the best layed plans, well, go awry!
I started out with a couple of prompts and needed to get the rest today (Saturday), but
I started a project with my husbands help, let's just say we stink at grooming...
and ended up at the emergency vet clinic with our standard poodle for a quick staple!
He's fine, we're not, and thankfully it was a minor wound. Unfortunately he now has to
wear the cone of shame for several days.

So in the crunch for time, read last minute, I'm using some from last week.

[ yellow ]

I had almost forgotten about this cute little dog behind the mellow yellow fence.

[ something that makes you smile ]

Well this one was hard, because there is so much that makes me smile . . .
So I chose this one of a door with a wreath in Galveston. It reminds me of my walk with Deanna from
Snippets from Springdale that just happened to come to my neck of the woods to visit her brother
about a week ago. It's nice to be able to meet a blog friend, especially when they are just as sweet in person. I shot this with her 105 mm macro . . . yep she let me walk around and try it out!! xo

[ ancient or antique ]

Nothing more beautiful than all the old antique iron fences in the historic district of Galveston. I
also shot this with the 105mm macro. And is it heavy!! Oh, and check out the door, looks original.

[ splash ]

After I dropped Deanna back at her brothers house, I had to stop for a real quick walk on the beach.
This cormorant was trying to dry his wings (they don't have all the oils on their feathers like most birds because they are divers), but he kept getting wet from the waves crashing into the pier.

[ in the sun ]

Nope, didn't need the spray bottle for this! Sometimes nature just does it perfectly and it actually
looks like it was stenciled on there with that perfect border!

Hope all is well, and the second half of the weekend is slower than the first!!

Love, Kim
XO

Now, run don't walk, to see what everyone else came up with at,

I always love coming to your blog and I think I found it by the way of Deanna. I hope you will be going to PS in Oct and i can meet you. I have your oil and bubbles post bookmarked because I have wanted to do it for ever so long. I hope to get to it. Thanks by the way for that post to remind me.

I forgot to say as a past owner of two standards and also groomed them both, they had their share of nicks from the clipper by ME. None serious but I can feel your pain. Mine were pretty good on the table but when I tried to clip around the toes, they both just didn't like that.

Ahh, such great memories. So glad to see that the heavy lens turned out some great shots. I had such fun that day, many happy memories. And oh my goodness, I can imagine your anguish at a miss snip resulting in a trip to the vet. Happy week ahead, my friend.

Oh my gosh...a grooming ER visit! Let me just tell ya, there have been a few times after "I've" been groomed that I want to go to the ER cause I don't like the results, haha. Hope you all are okay :) I REALLY like your "splash" shot this week. I want to be that bird (and I don't even LIKE birds). He looks like he is in total bliss.

That dog behind the fence is adorable. Love all your shots.

I have a standard poodle. We bought clippers and tried to learn how to groom her. After spending a good three hours making her look like she had mange we decided it was worth the $90 to get her groomed by a professional. :)

Wonderful set.So glad you had a chance to meet Deanna, it sounds like you both had an awesome time.
I really like your Yellow and Splash shots, they are my favorites. That fence is pretty cool. Trying to figure out what the last shot is but I like the shimmer from the sun.

I just hopped over from Deannas blog =) sweet indeed... and she has a great eye for photography! ;) love your splash pic! and sorry about your dog! our pastor did that ($500 dollars later ... he is still grooming his dog) yikes! I will painfully pay the $40 bucks every 2-3 months for that reason alone! hope your dog heals well! blessings~
