Photo-heart connection, number 1

"The world is full of obvious things which nobody by any chance ever observes."

- Arthur Conan Doyle

{ Pixel Dust Photo Art texture warm glow }

Choosing my photo-heart connection this month has proved to be a little difficult,  not because I wasn't connecting, but instead because I was having too many. I simply went back and forth and round and round. But I can say that they all had something in common in that they were all from the same experience.

We've had quite a few foggy mornings recently and one day after dropping off the kids at school, I went home, grabbed my camera and headed to a park with a pond, and wetlands and wide open spaces. The fog was heavy and thick and the visibility was extremely low. I got out of my car and and made the decision to walk towards the field in the dew laden and muddy grass. There was something about that field that felt curious and mysterious and when I finally came to its edge I could see it too was lit up by dewdrops . . where spiderwebs came to life, appearing like miniature strings of twinkling lights.

That foggy morning was beautiful and peaceful and also helped to isolate the things around me, but in a good way. The fog allowed only the things right in front of me to become more obvious, my senses were heightened, and I became a keen observer. But sometimes in life we can become so caught up in things that don't matter that it causes a blanket of fog that prevents us from seeing the obvious, the necessary, the really important things.

This image just reminds me to be aware, to observe, and to keep life simple.

Love, Kim
XO

So many people look, but don't see. I love how photography changes that in me. Beautiful work, Kim!

What a gorgeous photo, and what lovely thoughts...I love fog in nature, but I really don't like fog in my brain! And I struggle with that all too often...you're right that being out with a camera reminds me of this lesson. Thank you for sharing, Kim!

I drove out to Valley Forge the other morning because we had a beautifully dense fog and I thought "PHOTO OP". But, I have to admit...while walking around I felt enveloped in peace. It was quite lovely. As is your shot and your thoughts.

I have been distracted lately and can't seem to focus on my photography -- maybe the weather? In any event, I'm happy you had a moment or two to yourself to capture this lovely image. So peaceful. :)

Brilliant! I love how you explain how the fog seemed to isolate things - removing all the usual background - so that you could really appreciate it. Beautifully processed, btw!

An evocative and emotional image of utmost simplicity - and all the more striking because of that. A wonderful lesson about observation and being aware.

Foggy moments sometimes help us to see! "Keeping life simple" that's a good phrase and goes with your image of the little drop of water!

There is a singular beauty in this shot, Kim. A single twig, a single silk strand, a single dew drop. Beauty captured here in image and thoughts.

I just love this revolution in digital photography. It allows so many people to capture moments like this--things we probably would not have bothered with in film. Thank you for sharing this Golden Moment!

Kim, this is beautiful! I am a true believer that art is everywhere. We must pay attention as we go through life, not just to the beauty but to the miracles that are often right there in plain sight if only we would slow down long enough to acknowledge them. Thank you for sharing at the Thursday Favorite Things hop xo P.S. the new giveaway started yesterday :-)

Such a similar message in our Photo-Heart Connection this month, Kim! I love your description of that morning and the beauty that the fog helped you see. It is so easy to get distracted by everything all around us. Gorgeous! Thanks for sharing in the Photo-Heart Connection this month.

Your image caused me to pause and notice the details...sunburst, cobweb, water drop, reflection, beautiful bokeh...
Your words spoke a gentle reminder...

"This image just reminds me to be aware, to observe, and to keep life simple."

Love it!

I mentioned you on my blog today. I'm amazed at how far you've come with your photography and it is so inspirational to me. Have you ever done or considered doing a class on photo editing for beginners? I do all my photo editing in Picassa and know nothing about photoshop. Anyway, I may go back and dig through your blog some to see what I can learn!

Hi Kim,
I completely relate to the last paragraph of this post.. it is so important to focus on things at hand rather than get confused by the larger picture. I totally needed to hear this today :)
Thanks bunches
