Photo-heart connection, number XII

Old man Winter....is not really my favorite time of year.
I long for the sun,
for longer days,
and for walks on the beach, the sand in my toes,
for green things popping out of the ground,
for flowers,
and bees,
and for my beloved encounters with the lizards.

I miss all of it...
...this bird looks like he misses it too.

But he also looks a bit secluded, sheltered but not completely from view.
I wonder if there is enough room for me, right next to him.
I could use a quiet place to rest, to think, to just be.
Because even though I've been quite here lately, it's been because this past month
has been busy with all the holidays. And I can't quite manage too much busyness at one time
like I used to. I wish I could say that it was because I had secluded myself on a branch
somewhere, because right now, I could use a quiet place to nourish my soul.

Anyone else need to join me on the branch?

Thank you again Kat, for this wonderful monthly practice, and for all who share.
I have truly learned wonderful things from all of you through this connection.

P.S. - I am honored to have been chosen to share what the photo-heart connection has
meant to me this last year, here, over at the Kat Eye Studio.

Love, Kim
XO

So beautiful! You're green season will come soon enough! Me on the other hand, I love me some winter! I was so excited to see snow when I landed back home today! Happy New Year Kim!!

You and the bird in the tree playing the patience game while winter plays its role of resting the earth for a restoring slumber! I do love all the seasons and the way they come round when they're good and ready! Spring is getting ready in the depths of the earth, but now all is quiet and sleepy!

Yes, there are definitely times when we all need that branch - a quiet place to be. Here's wishing that you find that time and place to replenish yourself.

A beautiful photo, Kim, and I agree that it would be lovely to perch next to that little bird for a while. Very hot here in summery Australia, making me think winter would be rather pleasant! Never satisfied... Best wishes for a wonderful 2013!

Thank YOU, dear Kim, for your beautiful post and continued participation in the Photo-Heart Connection. This little guy does look like he is hunkering down, looking for a quiet place to be. I hope you find the quiet you are seeking in January! Enjoy the down time after the holidays and the silence before spring.

I, too, would like to join you on that branch....but I, also, would prefer a bit of warmth on that branch :) Your photos and words are always beautiful and honest. Lovely.

Now if you were to share that branch with me, you wouldn't have the solitude you mention, but I'll take a branch on the other side of the trunk.
Lovely thoughts accompany your image. I too struggle with winter, but it sounds like you're finding a way to make you more whole.

I would love a seat right there next to you. I have been so busy today is the first chance I have had to sit and catch my breath. I think I won't get back up till next week. :)

Love your photo.

Beautiful! I'm reminded of a book I read as a child called "Where does the butterfly go when it rains?"

Funny you should mention this...Im the same about my preference of the spring, summer and fall, but not so much a winter person. As we drove to the hill country from Houston, everything along the roadside looked bare, bleak and sad. So I decided to picture myself running through the "once" covered field of bluebonnets!! I guess you could call me a daydreamer, but it sure lifted my spirits and put a smile on my face!
Move over Mr. Bird:)

What a gift to make it as beautiful to describe. Would be to be able to learn quite a while in the winter beside you want to sit on that branch.
