Free and easy . . . Texture Tuesday

{Kim Klassen Sybil, Edith and Violet textures}

"The temple bell stops but I still hear the sound coming out of the flowers."
- Basho

It seems the only place I've been able to get to lately is the nursery. But when you live on the gulf coast, in Texas, you have to click while the clicking is still good. Because before long it will be just too hot, for me AND for the poor flowers. And then, you will find me at the beach . . . searching the sea weed . . . oh I can't wait! Especially since I now have a casting net. Oh the fun things I will find!!

You all know I love water drops, but a refracted water drop is the cats meow! I really had to hold my breath to get this one...as I was hand holding the camera.

And one more of one of my favorites to photograph right now, the Osteospermum or African Daisy. I've never grown these, I think it may just get too hot in the summer for them, but they sure are a happy little flower!

And now I really need to stop playing and go clean some stuff. We were gone all weekend out of town and when we walked in the door it looked like someone partied like it was 1999 . . . well, okay I guess it was like that when we left.

Have a fabulous Tuesday friends!

P.S. - I'm over at Focusing on Life, my collaborative blog, talking about random acts of kindness and how it has the power to impact someones day. I would love for you to come share a random act of kindness you did, or received . . .

Love, Kim
XO

So nicely done.

I have to say I'm having so much fun seeing what others are doing with my textures. It's like Christmas. :)

When is your art show? Beautiful! I bought my mom Calla lilies just like that for her birthday last month.

You really, really know how to capture those beautiful flowers. Love that daisy with it's petals reaching for the sky. And sure, blame the mess in your house on 1999.

Is that a bokeh overlay/texture on that last shot??? Gorgeous effect!

Excellent photo of the water drop. I love the textures you did with the last photo, appears as a bright sunny day.

Someone on another blog commented on the seductive curves of the calla lily - you have captured them well. My favorite, though, is the last shot - incredible! (oh, I like to keep the house looking like someone partied like it was 1999 - makes me feel popular).

I know Texas is much hotter than our summers, but I think the African Daisies do well in heat, too. What I love about them is the fabulous variety of blossoms that have been developed! I love your nursery flowers...and that water drop is magical.

So gorgeous Kim. Each had it's own beauty.

So gorgeous, Kim. I am partial to green so the water drop shot is my fave but I really enjoy your editing on the osteo shot.

Love the soft muted colors and texture... I created my first ever textured image today and shared over at Nancy’s as well… (GFC is still not working so I couldn't join, but I've subscribed to your rss feed...)

Oh Kim!!! These are wonderful! I love looking at how people capture flowers and you do it in such a delicate way...the small details you capture are out of this world! Thank you so much for sharing!

Oh, I love each of these, Kim! But that African Daisy melts my heart. Love.

Wow, Kim, your work is so stunning! I always look forward to it.
The refracted water drop is just perfect. I don't know why the Osteopermum wouldn't grow there. They grow on the freeway banks here in Southern CA. They do die out in the dead of summer but they come back. They will naturalize. Of course, you probably already know all this!!

Kim these last two shots just blew me away! They are amazing. Have never seen one of these AFRICAN DAISYs. What totally amazing depth of field and processing you did on this! Also this water droplet is THE CAT'S MEOW ( how long has it been since I hear this??)
So do you think that we passed each other at the Dallas Arboretum?? Wouldn't that be funny. ??? Love your post!

Kim - these images and your texture processing are quite amazing! I actually gasped when the first image appeared on my screen. Your ability to capture floral beauty and then turn it into even something greater is unparalled.

Soft chalk like petals, yet veins stretching stemward clearly visible. Love the beauty of detail closely captured.

Gorgeous images, love that refracted water droplet, great capture. Love all the textures you've used too. Loved your post on random acts of kindness at FoL - I was chatting with someone about this at the weekend as well - I think that is definitely my nudge to get on with it and spread some kindness. :)
