Note to self . . .

Note to self . . .

be kind to yourself, not everyone else will

respect yourself even when others don't

you have a kind heart, not everyone can see it

your opinions matter even if no one wants to listen

when you fall down, do your best to get back up

learn to trust yourself, even if others choose not to

love yourself, not everyone is going to love you back

don't let anyone define your self worth, they will put your value below theirs

when things seem overwhelming, keep calm and carry on

and, what you think of yourself is far more important than what others think of you.

Sometimes you start something and you don't exactly know what it's going to look like or how it's going to end up. And, what started out as a photo-art Friday "collage" prompt, quickly shaped up as my photo-heart connection this month. I didn't even go back to look at any of my other photos from the month.

I sat last night in front of my computer, in front of a blank screen with no idea or any feeling of creativity at all. Finally I had to just walk away...it was making me feel even worse than I was already feeling. And I was feeling sad, and somewhat numb and...a little lost. You see every now and again I let people treat me in a way that doesn't make me feel very good about myself. I lose my way, and start to doubt everything.

I let them take control of something that isn't theirs . . . my heart. But I'm taking it back, starting with this note to myself.

Love, Kim

I love it when I see people consciously use their creative talents to heal their hurt and heavy heart. What can be more beautiful and worthwhile than that?

I often come here lauding your photography, your gift of writing and your art and perhaps forget to express my deep appreciation for the beautiful soul at the source of it all.

Thank you for the brilliant example you provide for us all by sharing all the ups and downs of life with your words and images, Kim.

You have a gift of words, writing, pictures.

A beautiful Friday morning read, my dear friend.

oh my. First of all, this collage immediately touched my heart. Before I read your words, with lightening speed (man, the brain makes connections and thoughts in a flash!) I thought...take care of yourself, Adrienne, and do what you love. That's what I SAW - what I FELT - before I read a word. We all know that place...and fight to keep our hearts whole. Thanks for always sharing yours with us.

What a beautiful heart collage, Kim Your heartfelt note to self is important.....I think many of us forget how vital it is to love ourselves, as well as others. This is a perfect post for PHC.

You have a beautiful soul, and how anyone could be unkind to you is beyond me. This post is encouraging on so many levels. I'm better for knowing you!

Yes take back that control and know that you are worth so much. These people are like that because they lack so many things in their only life so in turn they attack others in negative ways.

Over and over again I have come here and been blown away with your courage and self awareness. You wear your heart on your sleve which makes you more volnerable, but also opens more doors to hope and happiness. To doubt yourself is natural, to allow others to make you doubt yourself is hard ... but you will always know in the end, because you are honest with yourself, that you are a good person. I so love what you do with your blog. You lift my spirits and I am sure the spirits of other, every day.

The photos in your heart collage are simply amazing! Kim, I'm so sorry you've had this bad experience, but I'm glad you used this to encourage yourself and to encourage me!

What a beautiful connection but I'm sorry it took people behaving badly towards you though. You have to think that people who make others feel bad must feel pretty shitty about themselves to hurt others-You're strong and beautiful and don't ever doubt that....

Great note! I'd love to know how you did that. I really need to do the same sometimes.

A note each of us needs to heed - not to let others steal our unique heart. I love where this collage experiment took you.

Dear, Kim, you are so unique and so special. I love seeing (over and over) how profoundly God has used {and is using} these beautiful creatures to bless you and heal you and make you grow and change and become. . . the butterfly you are meant to BE :)

Kim, your work is so thoughty and always lets me feel less solitary [even though I cherish my Solitude and protect it like a mother bear!] in this big and sometimes NOT so kind World.

Your writing, your words, and most of all, your heart, these are such great blessings.

Your sharing them is like whipped cream and a cherry. and a little nuts, on the side ;~D

Love the heart collage...and your note to yourself is a great idea. I sometimes use the write it down idea when I've had a hurtful event, and then at least I've given it away if only to paper. I always pray for it to be taken away :)
