Thank you . . .

"The challenge of history is to recover the past
and introduce it to the present."

- David Thelen

{San Jose Mission, San Antonio, TX)

I hated history growing up.

Having the right teacher can make all the difference.

My teacher today? . . . my daughter.

She is a history major, a future teacher.

Her students will LOVE history, because of her passion and love of it.

Today, in a few minutes I leave to go pick my daughter up from college, in the pouring rain.
POURING rain, 100% chance with thunderstorms.

And I'm so hoping between now and sometime before we leave tomorrow that the sky clears, because
I want to visit a mission (again) before we come back.

I LoVe the missions in San Antonio,

so much history, so much culture,

still something to learn each time I go,

always.

This is teacher appreciation week, and I want to thank teachers all over the world for their love and dedication to teaching or having taught our children.

And this includes all the moms who sacrifice so much to home school their children, including some of my very special blogging friends!

Let me just apologize ahead of time for not being able to visit you back this time, the next few days will be crazy, and waterlogued! ;)

Cheers,
Love, Kim

I've always been a fan of history. There's something fascinating to me, about what came before.
I agree about the San Antonio missions. Wonderful pieces of history.
Be careful in the rain. I'm hoping we get some of it here. It's been WAY too long.

Excellent window photography. The light and the shadow make it interesting.

Love the quote. Like you, I wasn't really a "fan" of history growing up. Somehow, getting older causes a shift. Love the photo! Superb!

Gorgeous image, drive safe. My husband loves history so I sometimes find myself swept along by his enthusiasm.

I'm with your daughter on this one: I have always loved history and majored in history. My daughter loves and majored in history/government. My granddaughter loves history {already} but it's way too early to know what she'll major in. I hope it's not history. Be safe!!! And dry.

Yes, the right teacher makes ALL the difference - I never would have continued with photography if not for my college instructor - he was the first person to make the technical aspects understandable to me and ignited my love for this art form. And we will be visiting San Antonio in November - I can't wait!

It took until I was older to appreciate history! I detested all those names and dates. Flip side...a few weeks ago I found a copy of an Arkansas history book just like the one I studied from in Jr. Hi! Yep, had to have it and I've enjoyed reading it! Love the beautiful window!

It's not that I didn't like history, I lived it growing up...it was the school history that I never liked. I wish I had the teachers I work with now back then...they do so many fun projects to help with the learning process. This photo is GORGEOUS>Safe travels Kim.

That's just a fabulous image, Kim. The square within the square composition and use of light is exquisite.

What a lovely photo! I hated history when I was growing up, but the older I get the more I love it. I'm never interested in the wars and stuff in most textbooks...but the people, the way of life, the beliefs...starting to all fascinate me.

Good luck with the move home. So funny, Mallory is a history major too. She isn't sure what she will do with it, but that will figure itself out in time. I hope you get your mission visit in.

I'm with you about history. As a teenager and college student, history was not my favorite subject. As an adult and while helping my daughter study through the years, I've come to enjoy it and find it intriguing. Reading historical fiction is something I enjoy, too.

I hope you have clear skies as you gather your daughter back up and head home. Lovely photo you've posted. Looking forward to seeing more.

Happy Mother's Day!
