It's coming soon . . .

. . . to a neighborhood near you!

"The Ladybug wears no disguises.
She is just what she advertises.
A speckled spectacle of spring,
A fashion statement on the wing . . .
A miniature orange kite.
A tiny dot-to-dot delight."

- J. Patrick Lewis

I've been trying to make it to my nursery once a week to check on the flower inventory.
Been looking for poppies, anemone and or ranunculus, and the only one I've managed
to come across is the ranunculus. But they have been the really tiny ones and no
soft peachy pinks, my favorite.

But last week, I came across dozens upon dozens of ladybugs. Not sure if they put them
there or they found their way there. But I can say that there will positively be little
ladybug larva soon.

I was so enthralled by them I must have spent at least 45 minutes with my camera in
the same spot.  But boy oh boy can they move fast, which sure makes it tricky to get
them in focus.

I know most of you have had either bitter cold weather or have been buried in snow
this past week(s), and I just want to let you know that it won't be long...

. . . spring really is coming, I promise.
I know this because it happens every year without fail, and the tree pollen
has been off the chart here. I don't think I've ever had this much trouble with asthma before.

So, keep your eyes peeled, it may be subtle, but she's on her way.

Love, Kim

Our lady bugs come inside our home about December and hibernate into a corner. Usually they don't leave for a month more, but they're already active and headed out. Love the lady bugs. Only bug I am happy to share my home with. :-)

Love seeing your beautiful photos & reading your positive thoughts.
I haven't seen the 'Ladybirds' yet here in my rural France. But after wandering around my garden yesterday I did see signs of spring, with new leaf buds on the shrubs. So like you I'll be happy when Spring does arrive, I can't wait.

This is beautiful! I think we are all a little winter weary and ready for warmth and color! I agree about photographing ladybugs. Those guys are fast.

The sighting of a ladybug is a sure fire way to generate the clicking of cameras - there is just something about them; but you are right - they are quick. I enjoy them until they populate to the level of nuisance in the house and then I'm ready for them to vacate to outdoors.

I detest driving in this monstrous stuff of snow and ice, but know that just as much as we are freezing our butts off now, spring will zip by and we will in no time be moaning about heat and humidity. (if only you could freeze a butt off - and thighs, around the waist ...) lol!

Lady bugs are the only bugs I like-this one is gorgeous.

I love that photo...I tried to get a photo last summer and by the time I found the focus, the bug was gone... I had a whole memory card of leaves only. I'm glad spring has found you...it is the coldest day of the year here...low of -13 this morning, a high of 2 . Come on spring!

Stunning image, your patience paid off. Spring is certainly teasing us here in Normandy, with sunny days and cold nights, primroses, daffodils and crocus.
bon weekend.

Such a cute little bug...nice to know spring is really on the way...it's freezing (-8) this morning. Maybe when it comes it will stay, and give us really lovely springtime weather.

She is a beauty! Thank you for the encouragement. :) I have never seen the thermometer say - 11 F before this morning in my part of Ohio.

Sweetest photo! I will not be seeing ladybugs for months but up here we celebrate the promise of spring when we get a day (like yesterday) when we can open a few windows, listen to water running off the roof, and enjoy the sunshine - it's exhilarating!

Too, too, cute! I've been meaning to ask you what you use for fire ants? They are bad at my mother in laws.

Thank you so much for the little reminder that there will be spring. Some day. I am not a winter person to begin with, so this cold stretch... really too long.
