Scavenger Hunt Sunday

Thar she blows . . .
November has been disappearing before my eyes, but somehow I don't think I'm the only one!
And wow, just wow, I can't believe it's almost Thanksgiving!

  My in-laws have been visiting, we had my son's last freshman
football game on Thursday night, Varsity Friday night (undefeated District Champs),
my daughter's All-region Choir performance Saturday night, after an afternoon of fun and
a dolphin cruise...the most dolphins I have ever seen at one time! OH MY!
Oh, and a choir performance on Sunday for Veterans Day....deep breath! And then a nap...
So I'm forgoing my prompt commentary today, in order to be efficient. ; ) And because I have a tooth ache!

I hope your weekend has been a good one!

Scavenger Hunt Sunday

Scavenger Hunt Sunday, I have missed you....
October has been an especially busy month at my house, between football,
being sick, and a one parent household for much of the month.

But I have to warn you, I'm really stre---t---chi-----ing the prompts this week!
Last week, I was given a challenge and loaned a 300mm f2.8 D II Nikkor lens by a photographer
who photographs all of the sports at my kids high school. I met him last year, and this year we have
gotten to know each other standing on the sidelines at the varsity football games. He was going to be
out of town and wanted me to fill in for him.....I was a little nervous as I had never shot with a lens with
this kind of reach before (or price tag). On my crop sensor camera the 300mm (in 35 mm terms) is 450mm!
I literally had to stand in the end zone of the opposite side of the plays!
I have fallen in love with this lens.
Going back to my 70-300 4.5-5.6 is just never going to be the same.

So, here are my prompt interpretations:

{ patterns }
At half time, the band and color guard perform while walking in patterns on the field.

{ machine }
This one I took the day before at my son's freshman game, being a tackling machine.

{ signs or logos }
This is the sign you get from #28 after he sacks the quarterback!

{ rocks or stones }
No, no rocks or stones, just a fumbled football . . . however when you get the little recycled tire pellets from the astroturf in your shoes, they sure feel like rocks!

{ sparkle }
And what would a football game be without the lovely drill team in all their sparkles?

And that's my story and I'm stickin' to it . . .

Have a great weekend y'all!

Scavenger Hunt Sunday

So glad to be back this week for the hunt, I just couldn't manage
to pull it together last week, but I think I'm finally on the mend. Thank you for the well wishes. Now
if someone could only figure out how to get the ragweed pollen down,
I would really be in business!!

This weeks prompts are . . .

{ water drops or water flowing }
I know, some of you saw this one already this week, but I really liked this one and it saved
me from having to dig into my archives.

{ faithfullness }
Just a little reminder, that we can fly with a broken wing.

{ then and now }
Now and then (pretending it's reverse day), you set your alarm clock to get up and go watch the
sunrise, but you forget to turn it on and wake up at exactly the moment (today it was 7:20am) that you should be standing by the bay with your camera on a tripod, sipping coffee  . . . watching, but you're not.
So you go for a walk instead . . .and you are thankful there are no more encounters with poisonous snakes.

{ fingertips }
Yet another lizard I made friends with!

{ Autumn bucket list }

I chose theme park from the list . . . this is Pleasure Pier in Galveston. There used to be a hotel
here, until hurricane Ike destroyed it and they replaced it with amusement rides . . . over the ocean!

Have a great rest of the weekend!

Scavenger Hunt Sunday

It's the end of Homecoming week  . . .
And I can say that as we have all had fun, we are all glad that it has come to an end.
Locker decorations for football, a shopping cart parade, a carnival, a pep rally, my son's
game (our first win) and varsity the following night (another win!!). Although, that varsity game
had us all on the edge of our seats until literally THE last one second of the game!

I know I'm behind on my visits to all of you and I'm really hoping this is the week
I can get caught up, please be patient with me? xo

I'm squeaking out these prompts this week . . . again.

{ yellow }
My what big "eyes" you have . . .

{ getting ready }
The carnival was Friday at the high school and we were getting the sandwiches
ready hours before it started, taking turns scooping. It was hot, and of course we haven't had rain in
weeks - it rained too. Hot, muggy, rainy, yep it was perfect weather for a carnival! ; )

{ bright }
Love these bright birdbaths!

{ teeny tiny }
A teeny tiny water drop with teeny tiny flowers refracted inside.

{ connections }
All that's needed is a pencil, to connect the dots? Yes it's a stretch!

I think lately that I'm more tired now with a 15 and 17 year old, than when they were 10 years younger. Or is it that I'm 10 years older? haha   And the exhaustion of getting them to bed when they
were younger has been replaced with the waiting for them to come home.

Have a good one today -
Love, Kim

Scavenger Hunt Sunday

Hey, I was wondering, does anyone know where September went?
It's almost over, how DID that happen?

What I wish I knew was . . . WHEN are the cooler temps coming my way?
Almost October and it was 90 something today, crazy!!

{ cracked }
You know that saying, some things aren't all they're cracked up to be?
Well, that's not something I will ever say about a shell, cracked or not.
I simply love the character of a cracked, broken shell.
My reason why . . . coming soon to a blog post near you! ; )

{ fallen }
I've fallen and I can't get up . . . well thankfully they do get up. But fall they must in football!

{ ordinary color }
Green, it's everywhere and could be considered an ordinary color, plain and undistinguished,
but it can be quite extraordinary, especially it multiple shades AND when the resurrection vine
is growing on 300 year old trees. I grabbed this from my Florida vaca archives....

{ bokeh }
La vida bokeh (the bokeh life), not to be confused with la vida loca . . . the crazy life!

My Sunday Best

{ fence }
As in don't fence me in . . . let me run wild and free!

 And there you have it, another Scavenger Hunt Sunday under our belts!
Until next time,

Love, Kim

Scavenger Hunt Sunday

Hello Sunday, and scavenger hunt . . .
Yes, it's highly likely that you will see from time to time during the football season, like last year,
football themed scavenger hunts on my end. With booster club Mondays and football Thursday and Friday
it doesn't always leave extra time for anything else. The only difference from this year to last is that I have a sideline pass! (swoon)  But when the sun goes down, my very basic 70-300 is just not fast enough glass without having to blow up my ISO to 4000. I am amazed at how fairly well the D7000 can handle the noise though. I pretty much had to stretch the prompts to fit this week . . .

{ kiss }
It was quite an exciting game on Friday with a win of 32-8, and 3 of those touchdowns were in the first few minutes of the game, one being a kick off return of 103 yards! Let's just say after having lost our first two games, there were a lot of kisses and hugs from some very happy kiddos to some very happy coach dads.

{ askew }...in a crooked position
These girls do some amazing flips, and I guess you could say that before they are right side up again,
they might get a little askew, especially if you freeze frame it!

{ fragrant }

Ummm....yeah.....I tried, I really did, to see if I could find anything remotely fragrant . . .
Just. Not. Going. To. Happen - at a football game. And there should definitely be a disclaimer
on the field to make sure you stand on the back end- and not down wind from the players. Just sayin'! ; )

{ simple }

Not complicated, a simple design  . . . yep another stretch.

{ plant }
(v). implant, put or fix firmly
After the game, win or lose, every player, coach and trainer firmly plants a hand upon another, as they
reflect on a few thoughts from the coach.

Whew, one more week down or should I say survived! For anyone with more than two kids in high school, God bless you!! 'Cause even though we are having fun, I'm just tired!

And I can say with much certainty that today will be pajama Sunday!!

Scavenger Hunt Sunday

I'm back this week in the hunt....but a little on the quiet side today, so onward to the prompts!

{ monochromatic }

I took a little field trip to my favorite nursery, Maas, and they still had roses and they were
still in bloom.

{ starts with the letter . . .    }

"D" is for dessert, or aka creme brulee . . . yum-my!!

{ upside down }

Oh I had to blow up my ISO to get this one as it was in really low light. He is definitely upside down, and well so was I for a while trying to get a shot of him under the web, but I couldn't keep steady enough.

{ hair }

 This was our third football game but the first one at our district stadium, and the drill team coach had
just given them a lipstick and hair check! ; )

{ soft }

Another  one from my trip to the nursery today . . . looks, feels, and smells soft!

{ Your Sunday Best }

Hope your Sunday is a good one!

Scavenger Hunt Sunday

Somehow by the middle of the week, things went a little haywire.
You could say that the sleep thief put me in a little bit of a sleep slump.
Now I'm playing catch up, forgive me if you have seen a few of these already?

{ school }

We are, Charger Nation . . . remember the countdown last week? Well after a really big gully washer
Friday afternoon, we were still able to get our scrimmage on. We are looking good!
This is our mascot and a new bronze statue at the school . . . taken from my instagram.

( rule of thirds }

A shot from our vacation in June in San Destin Florida, which is now in the path of Isaac! If you live in the path of this storm, you have my prayers.

{ side profile }

This was my big five-OH self-portrait, that by the way I had to take holding the camera, rather than using the tripod since the husband had forgotten to return it after borrowing it.
"Nothing has changed except the number. Age doesn't own me or define me. It doesn't tell me whether or
not I can have pink highlights, or wear feathers in my hair, it only marks how long I've been here." You can read the rest of my thoughts here.

{ small }

Big leaf, small ant.

{ motion }

My son at football practice before they could start practicing in pads . . . going out for a pass.

Well that's a wrap on August . . . see you in September.
We start back to school here on Monday, let the crazy begin! ; )

Scavenger Hunt Sunday

Howdy folks, there goes another week, and one closer to the start of school.
I know many have already started, but we have one more before we go back. . .

This year, I have two in high school. Big. Huge. Sigh!
One starting, and one ending. I think I'm gonna cry. Okay, I won't quit my day job... ; )

{ forest}

Well . . . this is pretty self-explanatory.

{ morning light }

I was going to use the one above for this, but this one wasn't going to pass for a forest.....

{ touch }

I barely got this focused before this lady bug, which I think resembles a DeLorean by the way, flew off.
But right before she (?) did, I'm pretty sure I heard, da da da da, da da, can't touch this!

{ newspaper }

Okay, so I sorta forgot about this prompt and didn't have a newspaper, but this IS pretty important
information in our household . . . 5 days, 17 hours, 47 minutes and 50 seconds until kick off. There are
two things we love in Texas, our football and some bling!!

{ coffee or tea or me }

Hmmm, I do like both, but I think coffee wins by a bean or would that be a tea bag? You know,
Carly Simon had some dreams she had clouds in her coffee, but I think she just mistook them for pecans.

Hope the rest of your weekend is a good one. Mine will probably be soggy, which is a good thing.
We need some rain, and my house needs cleanin'.
