Thinking pink . . .

. . . my color of happiness.

It's a fun and exciting color and considered youthful.

(in that case, I'll have more please...)

And when you mix white with red you get romance and soft pinks, the blush of a woman's cheeks.

(unless your going through menopause and then it would be ...bright red!)

It's said to have a tranquilizing effect, and painted in the locker room of opposing teams and prisons.
(maybe that's why pepto bismol is pink, helps it go down better?)


Pink is a song from Aerosmith, cotton candy, and breast cancer awareness.
There is the pink panther, a pink slip, and pinking shears.

And today, it's time to get tickled pink. . . .

....highlights that is!

I've read that you should wear pink when you want to present yourself as a peaceful,
calm person who is not threatening.

Soooo, that explains all the people who ask me for directions! ; )

Scavenger Hunt Sunday

Scavenger Hunt Sunday got here before I new it before I was ready, yikes!
So here we go.....

{ water}

Have camera will travel.....to Lowe's...while your husband looks for a filter,

you head to the garden center. And even though he might get done before you

at least it doesn't cost him anything but a little time! ; )

{ light }

On Monday it was just us girls so we got in the car and were on a mission to watch the sun set.

And although I have been to this spot before, I completely missed the exit and had to turn around and get back on the highway. The only thing is we didn't go far enough and had to get back on only to miss the exit again! All the while the sun was slipping away....it was kind of comical....but we gave it one more try and finally made it to our spot with about 3 minutes to spare and as you can see it was just about to disappear.

{ Chocolate }

Can't believe I almost forgot about this one....Oh there could have been so many possibilities, but

because this was a last minute attempt I'm just really glad we had some chocolate chips!

I did heat them up in the microwave since they get a little lighter in color and to give them a little sheen.

{ animal }

I had to pull this one from the archives, and although I have some much better animal photos, this one comes with a little story. This was last December at the Dickens on the Strand, and this elephant had a bit of a playful side to him. As you can see in this photo he had stolen the flag he has from the little boy in the green shirt and did not want to give it back. But prior to that, every time he went by where I was standing he would veer off track towards me, and the trainer would have to steer him back. This went on for about 3 trips around, until, with my camera to my eye he tried to steal my glasses....and although he wasn't successful, I   got slimmed! And elephants don't have very nice breath! We'll just say the glasses ended up on the ground and were never quite the same!

{ crowded}

 I just wasn't anywhere there was a crowd this week, so I pulled this from December when we went to San Antonio....this is the riverwalk at Christmas, and it's always crowded. But on this particular night it was extra crowded as the Baylor and Washington football teams were in town, and complete with their bands they paraded through the river while we ate at the restaurant on the right . . . the best fish tacos!!

Foto Friday . . . Tip toe through the tulips, in low key

I love the light,

but sometimes the lack of it . . .  is just as mystifying.

Reduce the lighting and it just intensifies the contrast of an image and when used in a selective way

it can certainly create a little drama.

And a little drama, photographically speaking, was in order to tame the young immobile and the restless.

I bought myself some tulips, one of my favorite Spring flowers and parked myself under my covered front porch. I went out early in the morning in order to catch the light of the sun and didn't initially set out to make

these kind of images, but ooooh the light was just right for it. And since the sun was just rising over the rooftops it was at an angle and perfect for back lighting and creating nice shadowed areas and highlights of the tulips. With my camera in manual mode I completely ignored what it told me was a correct exposure and underexposed in order to get the background dark while still keeping some of the highlights. I did have to correct some of the shadows in some of the images in editing in order to get that nice rich black toned background, but not much. Slight cropping and a little sharpening was then all that was needed. I can't wait to try this again, maybe with some red roses....and my mind wanders on the other things I could try. Oh the possibilities! A drama queen might have been unleashed.....

Sometimes, when you aren't able to get around as well, you are forced to do something different.

In my case, it was being more still, haha! Not that I like being busy all the time, but I do like having the freedom to choose when and where I might go. And as soon as you aren't able to, well suddenly things you don't normally do even seem enticing! (yes, even housework and laundry) But happily I have been able to ditch the crutches, the knee is better but not great and STILL waiting for the results of my MRI.

What does a whisper look like?

It's Monday, of course you know that, but that means another lesson from Kim in

my beyond layers class. Today she gave us a prompt, the word Whisper and sent us forth

to create some whisper 'art'.

But I feel like I'm cheating a bit, because in my frustration (with my knee injury) I bought some tulips so over the weekend I would have something to keep my mind off the fact that I couldn't go to the beach or

for a walk to the butterfly garden. And the minute the sun decided to make an appearance, because

we haven't seen much of that lately, I took them outside . . . .

And . . . . they did whisper to me . . . ever so softly!

I may have even heard some music. My lack of normal mobility has made me realize

that I have an addiction to capturing things with my camera.

And what a strange coincidence that I had already planned to use this image today

and then I checked my e-mail....

But, now the 'whisper' prompt has me thinking about how I can intentionally create it!

I'm off to grab my camera....
